Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the relations between the middle school students¡¯ internet game addiction, school life satisfaction, friend satisfaction, school record stress and to preview a method to promotion of community mental health

Method: In order to get data by self-reporting questionnaire, 887 subjects were selected from Oct. 8 to 15, 2007. The instruments for this study were 20 question of Internet game addiction, 15 questions derived from school life scale. The data was analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson¡¯s correlation coefficient using the SPSS 12.0 program.

Result: There were significantly negative correlations between internet game addiction and school life satisfaction, friend satisfaction, and between school record stress and school life satisfaction, friend satisfaction. Also there were significantly positive correlations between internet game addiction and school record stress, and between school life satisfaction and, friend satisfaction.

Conclusion: It is necessary to develop a strategy to decrease internet game addiction, school record stress, and to increase school life satisfation, friend satisfation for middle school students.
